Tests on bricks and masonry

Clay bricks must meet the requirements of EN 771-1 and in addition in the Netherlands it must also meet aspects associated with the KOMO guarantee (in Belgium the BENOR guarantee and in Germany an "Überwachung"). Various characteristics are periodically checked for the purposes of verification.

These include:

  • damages,
  • the average size,
  • size range,
  • water absorption,
  • initial rate of water absorption,
  • density and pore size distribution,
  • compressive strength,
  • soluble salts and
  • frost-resistance.
  • All activities are RvA accredited.

Raad van AccreditatieIn addition, (prefab) masonry must also meet certain aspects of strength and durability. A product is often examined for the bending strength, frost-resistance and tensile strength.

In addition to clay products, we can also test masonry bricks made from other raw materials.

TCKI has a broad range of testing methods for masonry stones and masonry work.
